What does the GOAT stand for on a Ford Bronco?

Everything You Need to Know About Ford Bronco GOAT Modes
Bronco lovers have waited a long to time for this off-road SUV to return! And with it’s highly anticipated return, Ford included a dial that allows the driver to move between “GOAT” modes. GOAT stands for Goes Over Any type of Terrain. As the driver turns the dial to navigate between modes, onboard computers adjust the ride automatically: disconnecting the front sway bar, disengaging or engaging traction control, locking differentials, and more.

The modes are:

  1. Normal – Great for day-to-day driving. This is the default mode after each ignition cycle.
  2. ECO – Fuel saver mode!
  3. Sport – An extra kick with improved performance handling and response
  4. Slippery – For maneuvering in rain, snow, and slushy conditions. Lowers throttle response and optimizes shifting.
  5. Sand – Specifically for driving over soft sand or deep snow. Sand mode engages the four-wheel drive lock.
  6. Baja – For off-roading in the desert. Optimizes suspension and other systems for improved performance.
  7. Mud/Ruts – for off-roading in the mud and on uneven surfaces. Mud/ruts mode engages the four-wheel drive lock.
  8. Rock Crawl – for off-roading in steep, rocky conditions. Engages four-wheel drive lock and the rear differential lock feature. Also activates the front trail camera.

Not all Bronco trim levels come with the same GOAT modes – in fact, not one comes with all eight. If you are serious about taking your Ford on challenging trails, through desert terrain, or over extremely rugged landscape, consider the trim level that will best suite your needs.
